A road report prepared by Kearon Bennett and Carl Hepworth in September 2016 led to road work that included replacing a small culvert under the road.
As of 2000, the Executive is empowered to spend on the road at their discretion. In 2009, it was decided at the annual meeting that the Association would now maintain private roads that serve more than one cottage (collector laneways), subject to permission by affected cottagers. In 2007, members approved an annual fee of $30 for road maintenance. In 2011, a one-time road levy of $100 was assessed, allowing priority work to be done. The annual road fee was increased from $30 to $60 in 2012, and to $100 for 2023.
Collection of road fees is an issue for the Association. Under provincial law, the municipality could assume maintenance of the private roads and pass the cost on to property owners through the tax system. However, the roads would first need to meet certain standards and have permission of the road owner(s).
