Boat-Washing Checklist
Post date: Jul 30, 2017
Here's a checklist to help stop the introduction of aquatic invasive species to Lac Mahon. Always take these precautions well away from the lake (ideally, on leaving another waterbody).
Drain water from all parts of a boat (and motor).
Remove visible mud, plants, etc.
Thoroughly clean - remove organisms that can't be seen by
rinsing with hot water, or
pressure washing, or
drying the boat for 5 days in the sun.
Pressure washing can be done at home, or there are pressure-washing stations in the Gatineau Valley, the closest is at Lac Sinclair, about 25 minutes away. See attachments.
